Barbara Jean Hadden Holmes, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2019 in the loving home of her only daughter and son-in-law. She was born August 4, 1940, in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Thelma Thompson and Ralph N. Hadden. Barbara was raised in Richmond, Virginia with adoptive parents LB and Emma Hadden. There, Barbara was educated, and later worked and retired from government service as a Cartographer.

Along with bowling, Barbara had a visible love for cosmetology. She was the “go to” for press, curl, cut and style amongst her family and friends in her day. As she aged, her faultless attire, makeup, and the conservative short haircut worn matched her confident and vibrant personality.
Barbara served as a Deaconess at Bright Hope Church in Richmond, Virginia where she glorified God and ministered to the congregation in song. She also served on the kitchen committee at Christ Community Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC.
She was predeceased in death by her parents and only brother Robert Hadden.
